Ismael P. Mendoza, Sr., 56, of Abilene, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at a local hospital from injuries sustained in a work related accident. Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 837 Jeanette Street, with Monsignor Robert Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Abilene Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, 3349 North 12th Street. Wake service will start at 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Mendoza was born May 05, 1960, in San Miguel De Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico to Jose Dolores Mendoza and Ofemia Pichardo. "No words can express how much I love my Daddy. Or how much he meant to our family and extended family. My daddy was a pillar for our family helped everyone, when he couldn't even help himself. Dad never met a stranger, everyone was family to him friends, coworkers all of my cousins, aunts and uncles. He was a very strong and prideful man and worked to the very end for his family. My dad had a very long life ahead of him still. He will be missed by all who met him and remember for how brave he was.."

Left to cherish his memories include his wife of 33 years, Julia M. Mendoza; two sons, Ismael Mendoza, Jr. (Olga Veronica) and Jonathan Lee Mendoza (Juan Carlos Martinez), all of Abilene; a daughter, Angelina Priscilla Mendoza (Felipe Cano) of Merkel; three brothers, Antonio Mendoza, Augustine Mendoza (Rosa Maria) and Marcelino Mendoza, all of Mexico; two sisters, Juana Mendoza (Alfredo) and Angelina Mendoza, both of Mexico; Christian E. Herrera-Mendoza, Zachery I. Mendoza, Araceli S. Mendoza, Rosalie A. Cano, Dayami M. Cano, Flor A. Cano, Natalee J. Cano, Kerolyn Grace Cano, Martin De Jesus Cano, Esmeralda Cano and Esperanza Cano.
Mr. Mendoza was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Ofemia Mendoza; and one sister.
Honored to be pallbearers include Felipe Cano, Jose Luis Cano, Jose Lopez, Carlos Lopez, Mario Gill, Danny Rodrigues, Jose Quintero and Jose Saucedo.
