Julia “Julie” Huerta Perez
Julia "Julie" Huerta Perez, 69, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, 48 South West Avenue A, in Hamlin, Texas with Brother Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at the Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home. The family will not be having a visitation.
Julie was born July 4, 1947 in Mathis to Diego and Beatrice Huerta. She was the youngest of nine children growing up on a dairy farm outside Hobbs, New Mexico. She married Ramiro G. Perez on August 14, 1965. Together, they raised three children. Julie worked in various factories and was a professional seamstress. To her kids, she was a professional momma and grandma. She was someone who truly enjoyed life, as she loved music, dancing, shopping, eating, playing games of all kinds, gambling and driving fast. She mostly enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids. Julie worked for many years at Video Mania in Anson and in Stamford. She was also a cashier at Walmart in Stamford for several years. Julie was known as a sweet lady who always had a smile on her face, and despite a long battle with cancer, she never lost her faith or love for the Lord.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ramiro Perez of Anson; her daughter, Elisa Perez of Anson; two sons, Ramiro Perez Jr. and wife, Stephanie of Colorado City and Rodolfo Perez and wife, Laura of San Antonio; six grandchildren, Valerie and her husband, Coby Perry of Anson, Robert Moreno of Anson, Lana Perez of Colorado City, Daniel Perez and his wife, Lexi of Colorado City, Diego and Natalia Perez of San Antonio; and six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Zachariah, Lennox, Alexandra, Rami and Zane, and one more on the way. Julie is also survived by many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law who were very special to her, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Diego, Jesus, Amador, Cleo and Gonzalo Huerta; and three sisters, Olivia Camacho, Celia Rodriquez, and Carlota Lopez.
Pallbearers include Mario Perez, George Perez, Freddy Perez, Margarito Perez, Marcos Olvera, Billy Gonzales.
